STAIRWAYS TO THE STARS - CARRIBEAN - 2021

This DMX led structure was built over a dozen controllers and mapped across a thousand Art-Net universes in the British Virgin Islands.

The aim was to allow guests to freely modify and select content from a TouchOSC patch on a tactile device. A command enabled switching between the day-to-day show, which was programmed to run every day in the same sequence, and freely selectable content.

In total, I created 16 distinct generative real time pieces of generative art, each offering control over speed, color hue, and three custom parameters to modify their behavior.

The entire pavilion was mapped, along with a secondary pavilion. As this project was completed just before the release of Smode Net, I had to develop my own TCP/IP protocol with OSC triggers to enable communication between the two media servers.
The other complexity came from the very intricate nature of the structure which made the mapping difficult to setup.
It was quite challenging but very rewarding.
